Zack and Miri

Well, my mouth is not so bad. There's some pain but it's the not eating that really gets me. Only soft foods like spaghetti-os and yogurt, bleh.

We saw Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which was a very sweet movie. I was quite charmed. I like Seth Rogen and his sort of bumbling sweetness, from this movie to Knocked Up.

Of course, I've always been fond of the Nerd, the Geek, the Underdog.

Because really, they got the saying wrong, it's actually:

The Geek shall inherit the earth.

Teeth Be Gone

So I got four wisdom teeth pulled today.

I didn't think the aftermath would hurt so much, I mean, damn, their just teeth right?

I hate this phone camera!!! It's worth about as much as a pile of shit. This is really blurry but there they are, all my teeth. Or at least pieces of them. They won't let you keep them, which I think is terribly dumb.

It was kind of a traumatic event, at least on the body. I was laying there and they put the numbing agent in and at some point, my body started to shake and I was really cold. I thought I was getting so nervous that I might not be able to go through with the procedure. I must have looked a bit pale or stunned because the nurse asked if I was okay and I described what I was experiencing. She explained that it actually was the stuff they just stuck in me that was causing all that reaction. Oh. Okay.

And then all that wrenching and tugging. I didn't take the knock-out option and just used local. They had to shoot up my lower left jaw up about four times before they could finally get the tooth out without my slightly squealing. The roots went deeper I guess in that one.

Afterwards, I just popped my helmet on and went home on my scooter. My face duly puffed up, not hugely but enough for Marty to tease me. And it hurt as the stuff started wearing off. And liquid foods... sigh. Bleh.

So, less teeth. And I can't stop playing with the empty, gooey holes. Sorry for that.

The Blahs

I'm just feeling frozen today.

Not as in my cold stuff but just in action.

That sort of paralytic quality that takes over sometimes.

I've learned more recently to fight it less. Usually I get all bent out of shape, worried I'm going into a slump of some kind.

I'm getting better at reminding myself that nothing is permanent.

This too shall pass.

Girl In a Boy's World

I went to a survey for a video game and I was the only girl in the group.

Go figure. Nerd alert.

Then Marty and I went out to dinner and he made up some fun, if sometimes hard, question cards all about celebration, ie "How did your family celebrate? What is cause to celebrate?", etc.

It was a lot of fun although a little squirmy at times. Sometimes these things squeak me out. It's just me.

A new phenomenon I've just discovered, like LOLCat and Engrish:

Where apparently you compare two pictures with the caption "So & so totallylookslike.com so & so".

Clever Dollars!

This is very clever. But I imagine it probably took some time to find out just how far away one would need to be to get the proper perspective and size of the building to match the bill.

Meaning someone has way too much time on their hands.

The Case of the Missing Posts

Hmmm, I could have sworn I had place holders and draft notes for the 10/25-27 but alas, they seem to missing.

Thus I will have to torture you with random items found on the internet.

You know you love it.

You're No Good

I went to Rosen today. It was a hard session and I had the "You're No Good"by Linda Ronstadt song running through my head. Just dealing with a lot of hard stuff right now and it's coming up as Inner Critic stuff.
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby, you're no good

I'm gonna say it again
You're no good
You're no good
You're no good
Baby, you're no good
Then out to the beach with BenjaBeast and James and Marty. I took a lovely photo we should use for the Say No to Prop. 8 posters. I didn't have my regular (read "good") camera so I took this with my phone camera which really sucks. I'm thinking of switching back to my Motorola Q just for the camera. Aren't they a lovely couple? Who says gay marriage wouldn't work and that it's bad for the kids!! James on the left, Marty holding Benjamin on the right. Marty's got his arm around James. Aren't they so sweet!! If you click on the photo, you'll get a much closer view. You can almost see their nicely green lit (no idea why the phone did that) faces.

In my cavorting on the beach, I found a black sand dollar which I've never seen before. And it was whole so came home with us and now lives in a planter.

Then off to see the W movie about Bush. It kind of sucked. Not just because it had the foulness of Bush in it but the movie itself just seemed to be missing something and neither Marty nor I could figure out what it was. And Bush seemed like such a sad and pitiable character too. Which I guess is true to some extent. The man is an idiot but I suppose he can't help being that much of an idiot considering his upbringing.

Four Years

I went to ballet class at the YMCA.

I went to get my consultation for having my teeth pulled today. Yuck. All four need to come out and the recovery details sound nasty.

And then, wow, I've been married for four years. It's a little hard to believe sometimes.

Marty and I had our usual fight and then went out to dinner. It's sort of a tradition. The fight. Although the dinner too.

Dumb Noob

I feel like such a dumb noob again.

I'm a brand new intern in this realm, working with kids and feel like I can barely remember how to work with adults anymore.

Blearg.

Just Say No to Vomit Helmets

I was riding down to my internship on the scooter this morning and noted was feeling a bit queasy. It started getting worse and then I got that feeling. You know that feeling. The feeling that says 'It's going to happen, you're going to throw up.' No if, ands or buts.

So I headed for the nearest exit and was sitting at the red light, desperately holding on and just barely pulled up onto a sidewalk and even more barely got my helmet off before throwing up into the wood chips of a public garden. Yum.

Even though I barely got my helmet off in time, I can't tell you how much I was relieved that I got it off because I wouldn't even have had the first clue in how to throw up while still wearing it and I didn't want to be wearing a vomit filled helmet. Even more yum.

After throwing up (and wow, it is just the worst isn't it), I felt better but decided to turn back and head home just in case. Bleh.

Cold

Crazy early I get my ass up to go volunteering as mentioned on Wednesday.

Then I went to my own goodbye lunch and the old crew was there. Ahh, nostalgia.

But I'm so damn cold today and I can' t get seem to get warm no matter what I did.

This song was going through my head over and over, non-stop.
Cold - Tears For Fears

The coldest shoulder cast in metal
Frozen to the bone
To rely on hook, line and sinker
What a sinker
Sinking like a stone
You'd be better off alone

She saw me on the television underneath the sun
Thought that I was warm like a mother, lover, brother
Brother, she was wrong
Me, I don't long to belong

"Time stood still with his fingers in his ears, didn't want to hear it from another bunch of hollow men."

Cold, been excommunicated 'cause I'm cold
My temperature's been rated and I'm cold
Bring to me my big old sweater
Nothing more will make me better

I met her on Monday and my heart did nothing new
Seems she thought of me as some mystic, fatalistic, mystical guru
Me, I haven't got a clue
But floating on a magic carpet high above the earth
You can see the world like a Buddha, bread and Buddha
Bigger than you hurt
Don't you know that love is work

"King got caught with his fingers in the till, where's your calculator will you leave it in your will?"

Cold, no heat on the horizon guess I'm cold
And Capricorn is rising yes I'm cold
Listened to my old friend Nockles
Hoped that it would warm the cockles

You can't fight the fear you can't, this is the road you're on
You don't belong to me you don't belong to anyone
Your reputation lies not in your eyes, but those who dare
Will bite the hand that feeds when it don't meet your needs
When you got blood to bleed, you got a life to lead

In the flood with my blood I can hold you

Cold, been excommunicated 'cause I'm cold
My temperature's been rated and I'm cold
Bring to me my big old sweater
Nothing more will make me better

Cold, no heat on the horizon guess I'm cold
There'll be no compromising, cold, cool, cold
Stone cold
Stone cold
Cold
Cold

Teeth

My teeth have always held up fairly good. I don't always brush my teeth religiously, enough to keep the scum off, although I do tend to floss a lot. Mostly because I have these spaces in my back molars where food gets stuck and then my jaw starts to hurt because of the pressure. So I'm always flossing it out.

I have fillings, five to be exact, all pre-adult.

But as I went into to have my last ditch care for my teeth, lo a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth with the very likely lead to extraction of all four (can't reach back where I need to in order to brush properly). Oh joy of joys!

But I love teeth, really. All sorts of things you can do with teeth. Although apparently wisdom teeth don't really enter into the realm of "useful" for much. Not even the tearing and gnawing of meat. How disappointing.

Do Stuff

So my trainer talked me into volunteering at the Women's Nike Marathon wherein I'll be getting up at 4:30am to go hand out water to runners. It's not my idea of fun but I let her talk me into it because I'm trying to "do stuff", be social, blah blah, so that I don't withdraw and get depressed and all that.

I got a little freaked out near the end of the day, my body settling to that "I have to go to work tomorrow" and I almost had a panic attack. It was very hard to remember in that moment to remember the actual reality. Then I managed to come to my senses and I felt much better.

Whew.

Like Pills

Arggg, I haven't exercised in a while.

I've been sitting around eating ice cream, taking a break.

But exercise is kind of like taking pills for me. You can't miss The Pill, can't miss heart medication, etc. etc., you just gotta do it.

I've started to learn that I can't miss even a couple of days before I start feeling the body pain creeping in. Not that when I exercise I'm pain free but it's definitely worse if I don't.

It kind of sucks because I just don't wanna sometimes.

Frenetic

I'd have to say, as much as I like cats, this cat would have to be locked in the bathroom or something.

I have a hard enough time sleeping as it is.

The Ruins

I spent a good part of the day trying to come up with money ideas.

I recognize that I really don't want to work for someone else for a while.

I was feeling mad at Camille since she still hasn't called since the week before I left work and still not since.

We watched The Ruins today. For some reason it really got to me and I was shaky bodily afterward. I had to do other things before I went to bed.

It's funny, human against human, I can get, but evil shit in plants and spaceships, no way.

Moving On Up

In Rosen I was working with COC and work.

She needs to get the fuck out of my body. I still have moments of stress spiking up in my body when I think of her.

The image was wanting to move into a lush, gorgeous open and bright mansion and she can stay in the little hovel with all her shit.

Yeah, I want out of the hovel with all her crap. She can keep it.

The Strange Game

So I'm getting signed up for unemployment benefits since the HR person who let me go stated that my work would not contest my signing up for benefits. Plus they extended my health insurance by a month (and I don't mean COBRA) and paid out two weeks of vacation when I only had one accrued.

The whole thing seems like some strange game with weird, mutant chess pieces.

Sometimes It Takes a Sledgehammer

Well, that last post of the "end of an era" was rather apropos as I was fired today. Let go, whatever. Almost 6 years to the day (I think I was hired Oct. 9th, 2002).

And you know, although I was very upset at first, sometimes it takes a sledgehammer for me to realize something. That wow, a bunch of stress dropped out of my body while I was driving home.

I had my earpods in on the drive back and this song came up in my list and suddenly I was almost wiggling in happiness on the bike.
All Night Long - Lionel Richie

Well, my friends the time has come,
Raise the roof and have some fun.
Throw a-way the work to be done,
Let the music play on.
(Play on, play on, play on...)
Everybody sing, everybody dance.
Lose yourself in wild romance.
We're going to party,
Karamu, fiesta, forever.
Come on and sing along,
We're going to party,
Karamu, fiesta, forever.
Come on and sing a-long.

All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
Ooh, yeah (all night).

People dancing all in the street.
See the rhythm all in their feet.
Life is good, wild and sweet,
Let the music play on.
(Play on, play on, play on, play on...)
Feel it in your heart,
And feel it in your soul.
Let the music take control.
We're going to party,
Liming, fiesta, forever.
Come on and sing my song,

All night long (all night), ooh (all night).
All night long (all night), yeah (all night).
All night long (all night), yeah (all night).
All night long (all night), ah (all night).

Yeah, once you get started you can't sit down.
Come join the fun, it's a merry-go-round.
Everyone's dancing their troubles away.
Come join our party, see how we play!

[Chants:]
(Tom bo li de say de moi ya.)
(Yeah, jambo, jumbo.)
(Way to party o' we go'n',)
(Oh, jambalai.)
(Tom bo li de say de moi ya.)
(Yeah, jumbo, jumbo.)

Oh-oh-oh-oh, yes.
We're gonna have a party, yeah, ugh!
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night), ugh.

Everyone you meet (all night),
They're jamming in the street (all night),
All night long (all night).
Yeah, (all night).
I said, everyone you meet (all night)
They're jamming in the street (all night),
All night long. (all night).

Feel good, feel good.

(All night, all night.)
(All night, all night.)
[Fade.]
(All night, all night.)
(All night, all night.)
(All night, all night.)

Yeah. Freedom!!!

End of An Era

I went to a luncheon to say goodbye to Laura today.

She who hired me and she who is fleeing the COC.

Wow. It is truly the end of an era, she's almost one of the last from the "old guard" to leave.

Sigh.

I know, I know. I need to get out myself.

Just an Ordinary Day

Again I become indispensable to work, catching med errors and such. COC was gushing about me.

Both a fantastic worker and a bad worker?? But COC up to her usual negatory ways.

I'm just so amazed at her depth of bad management.

And damned tired of the "mixed messages".

Rockin' Shift

I was all by myself today since the assigned relief for Laura's spot didn't show up. But it was okay.

I actually had a rocking shift even though I only got three hours of sleep.

Clients were actually in a good mood and connections with them were good and pleasant. We had some good laughs.

I felt pretty good about work for the first time in a long time. Even enough to ignore that I'd see COC's face again in the morning.

OMGs, this is just too cute. Although I have to say if I were that dog, I'd have to bite that human for pulling such a stunt.

Engrish - New Diet

If you haven't figured out by now, I use Engrish and LoLCat to fill in posts where I either forgot or lost the day.

So, Engrish. The new diet fad.

VP Debates

Well, today I got to see Sarah Palin in action for the first time. Oh... my....

First I saw, Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin and then watched the real Sarah Palin for the first time. Waaahh.... I want Obama to win!!!!

Sarah Palin's "Best Hits".

Then I watched the actual debate. She seems moderate in political stance. She really does like that "Maverick" word, doesn't she. She seemed way too fucking perky for my tastes. And she seemed botoxed to me. I think she had her smile created with plastic surgery.

She did better in the debates than she has in interviews, that's for sure. And I think Biden was holding back from slamming her, which was a good move on his part, since it didn't make him look like a monster for steam rolling a retarded person.
